Happy New Year! and welcome to VedgyVoice #11. It’s a bit predictable this week with new product launches in line with the Veganuary push, a health related documentary as well as a tasty, healthy and hassle free stroganoff recipe.
What’s Happening?
New products hitting British supermarkets for Veganuary 2024: Household names and challenger brands alike are gearing up to capitalise on Veganuary. Each year, thousands of individuals around the world pledge to give up meat and dairy for 31 days, with help and meal inspiration from the Veganuary charity. Check out this list of new plant-based products hitting shelves in January 2024.
The Body Shop receives landmark Vegan Society certification: The Body Shop has become the first global beauty brand to receive 100 percent vegan certification from The Vegan Society. The British beauty retailer said the landmark certification covers all ranges, including skincare, bodycare, haircare, make-up, and fragrance lines, achieving an ambitious target it set in 2021 when 60 percent of its products already carried The Vegan Society trademark.
Aldi Launches Biggest Ever Vegan Range – Including Pain Au Chocolat: Budget supermarket Aldi has launched its biggest ever vegan range for Veganuary 2024. On the menu are fast food classics, such as vegan corn dogs and fried chicken. The new range also features ready meals such as mushroom bolognese and coronation chickpea curry. To the delight of many, Aldi is also bringing back its Vegan Breakfast Pastries, with Plant Menu Croissants and Plant Menu Pain-au-Chocolat both available for £1.89.
Cluck Yeah! THIS™ drops Europe’s first ever skin on vegan wings: THIS™, the hyper-realistic plant-based meat company has teamed up with BrewDog for a limited edition Veganuary menu item – Europe’s first skin on vegan chicken wings. From today, THIS™ Isn’t Chicken Wings are available in BrewDog bars, restaurants and hotels across the UK* for the duration of Veganuary.
Greggs’ fan favourite vegan bake finally returns to menus: In a mouth-watering comeback, Greggs has answered the collective plea of vegans with the announcement that the beloved Vegan Steak Bake is making its return this Veganuary.After disappearing from the menu in 2021, the Vegan Steak Bake is set to hit the shelves once again. Fans, who have been fervently expressing their longing for this plant-based delight on social media, will be able to savour its deliciousness for just £2 from Thursday (January 4th).
Walkers Launches New Vegan Crisp Flavours: Walkers has launched three new flavours of crisps in the UK, including Vegan Grilled Cheese Toastie, in time for Veganuary 2024. Alongside the Grilled Cheese Toastie, Walkers is launching Vegan BBQ Pork Ribs and Vegan Flame Grilled Steak. All three flavors – which are part of the brand’s “Unbelievable!” range – are fully vegan, providing a meaty and cheesy taste without animal products.
