W.H.O calls for global shift to plant-based diet

  • HappyCow just unveiled its top spots around the world, with the Welsh pub at number four.

  • The Queen Inn, in Cwmbran, South Wales, removed animal products from its menu in January 2022. Just two years on it’s scooped the prestigious accolade of top plant-based restaurant in Europe, and now also the fourth best vegan restaurant in the world.

  • Guests can enjoy reinvented pub classics with a plant-based twist, such as battered f*sh and chips and ch*cken and b*con pie, and the venue claims to be ‘world’s first plant-based steakhouse.’

  • The president of the World Health Organisation (WHO) has called for a global shift towards a plant-based diet to protect the health of people and the planet.

  • South Korean MPs have backed a new law banning the dog meat trade – meaning the slaughter and sale of the animals for their meat will become illegal.

  • After centuries of the practice of humans consuming dogs, the new legislation is set to come into force by 2027.

  • While the new law will ban the slaughter and sale of dogs for their meat, eating the meat itself will remain legal.
