Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages.

📰 What’s Happening?

  • Australia will end live sheep exports by sea in May 2028, aiming to improve animal welfare and address public concerns over the treatment of animals during transport.

  • The government has introduced a $107 million transition package to assist sheep farmers and industry stakeholders in adapting to the upcoming changes, ensuring economic stability.

  • Legislation for the ban will be introduced during the current parliamentary term to formalise the phase-out and provide a clear legal framework for its implementation.

  • Danish food tech company FÆRM has received €1.3 million in funding to scale up its patented process for making fermented vegan cheese, which closely mimics traditional dairy methods.

  • Using soy milk, enzymes, and microorganisms, FÆRM has successfully created products like fresh mozzarella, brie, and cream cheese, and plans to expand to other legumes for soy-free options.

  • The funding, provided by the BioInnovation Institute, will help FÆRM revolutionise and democratise plant-based cheese, making it more affordable, tasty, and nutritious.

  • Germany's production of plant-based meat increased by 17% in 2023, reaching 121,600 tonnes, driven by rising demand for vegetarian and vegan alternatives.

  • The number of companies producing plant-based meat rose from 51 in 2022 to 67 in 2023, and the value of these products grew by 8.5%, totalling €583.2 million.

  • Despite conventional meat still holding a higher market value, its production has been declining for seven consecutive years, indicating a shift towards plant-based options in the German market.
